Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB) has said that that strict actions will be taken against any form of malpractice in the Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (UACE) exams.
Today, a total 142,009 A’level candidates spread across 2,634 centers nationwide are commencing on writing their final exams. They include 80,041 (56.4%) boys, while female candidates are 61,968 (43.6%). This number represents a 22.15% surge from last year’s 110,569 candidates.
As the exams commence, UNEB’s principal public relations officer, Jennifer Kalule Musamba says the board is ready to deal with individuals who attempts to get involved in any forms of examination malpractice.
She warned that the law would be applied firmly to address incidents of negligence among invigilators and potential cheating attempts by candidates. Musamba stated that UNEB would work diligently to prevent examination fraud, ensuring a fair and credible assessment process for all candidates.
According to timetable released by the UNEB, candidates are set to sit for European History, History of World Affairs since 1939, and Principles of Mathematics 1 in the morning, and they will write History of National Movements and New States, East African History and Mathematics 2 later in the afternoon.
UNEB Statistics shows a total of 35,661 students, or 25.1% of the candidates, are sponsored under Universal Post-Level Education and Training (UPOLET) program, up from 24,679 last year. The remaining 74.8% of the candidates are privately sponsored.
UACE exams will close on December 6th, 2024, with Fine Art (Study of a Living Person) in the morning and Imaginative Composition in the afternoon.
