KAMPALA

The Uganda Communications Commission (UCC) has suspended the broadcast of Salt Television’s popular morning show Omusunsuzi over allegations of breaching the broadcasting standards.

In a notice issued on Saturday, UCC said routine monitoring and several complaints from viewers revealed that the programme, which aired weekdays from 6:00 am to 8:00 am, contained abusive content, inappropriate language, and displayed unprofessional conduct by its presenters.

The show has been hosted by Jennifer Nakangubi, also known as Full Figure, and veteran actor Charles James Ssenkubuge.

Reports show Full Figure allegedly used the platform to hurl abuses at individuals, particularly those opposed to the government.

“The Commission found that the programme contains abusive content and inappropriate language and airs at times when children are likely to be watching, potentially exposing them to unsuitable material,” UCC stated.

In line with its mandate under the Uganda Communications Act, Cap. 106, UCC directed Salt TV to immediately suspend airing the Omusunsuzi programme, provide written responses to the complaints received, submit recordings of broadcasts between August 1 and September 12, 2025, and submit the programme script to the Commission to review.

The ban comes nearly a fortnight when Full Figer was assaulted along Kyandondo road near NRM Secretariat on yet to know reasons. Three people; Juma Kakooza, Jessy Lugeya, and James Asiimwe have been arrested and remanded to Luzira prison regarding this incident. The trio, all workers of Mel -In International are accused of aiding to escape Kennedy Nsubuga, a man wanted for assaulting Full Figer. They appeared before Buganda Road Court on Thursday, and Grade One Magistrate Winnie Nankya remanded.

Salt TV has until Friday, September 19, 2025, to comply with the directive and furnish the requested materials.

UCC emphasized that it remains committed to protecting the public from harmful and offensive content, ensuring that broadcasters operate in accordance with the law and professional standards
