KAMPALA
Uganda and the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) have signed a bilateral cooperation agreement aimed at strengthening collaboration in public administration, capacity building and institutional development between the two neighbouring countries.
The agreement was signed on Monday at State House as the two countries continued to deepen bilateral ties across several strategic sectors.
Ugandan State Minister for Public Service, Margaret Muhanga, said the partnership will focus on training human resources under the Civil Service College framework over the next five years.
Muhanga said the arrangement is expected to enhance collaboration in public administration, skills development and institutional learning as both countries work towards building efficient and people-centred public service systems.
“Today at State House, we signed a bilateral cooperation agreement between the Public Service of the Democratic Republic of Congo and Uganda,” Muhanga said.

The signing forms part of a broader series of Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) Uganda and the DRC have entered into in recent months covering key sectors such as trade, security, ICT, diplomatic relations, tourism, transport and public administration.
State House said the agreements are intended to strengthen people-to-people ties, improve cross-border cooperation and expand trade opportunities between the two countries.
The agreements are also expected to enhance regional connectivity and support peace and stability in the Great Lakes region.
Officials said the growing partnership between Uganda and the DRC remains central to regional transformation, shared prosperity and the long-term development of the two neighbouring countries.
The latest agreement comes amid increasing cooperation between Kampala and Kinshasa on regional security, infrastructure development and cross-border trade initiatives aimed at improving economic integration within the region.
