Uganda Martyrs University (UMU) becomes the winners of the Pepsi University Football League 2022, after edging St. Lawrence University(SLAU) with 1-0 goal.
In the Saturday (November 12) bout at the Philip Omondi Stadium, Lugogo, Sunny Kaija netted in the 28th minute the only goal that has given UMU winning position.
Uganda Martyrs now joins Makerere University Business School and Kampala University as two-times winners of the University Football League titles having won it also in 2017 after beating MUBS 2-0 at Namboole.
On the other hand, St. Lawrence have lost two back-to-back University Football League finals. SLAU lost at finals to Uganda Christian University last year.
This means that St. Lawrence’s wait for their maiden University Football League trophy continues.
Also, UCU finished third after winning the third and fourth-place playoff final against MUBS.
UCU won 4-3 goals in the post-match penalty shootouts following a 1-1 draw in normal time.
