Aruu South Member of Parliament, Hon. Samuel Odongo Otto is in critical conditions after he was allegedly poisoned while in police custody at Pader police station.
MP Odongo Otto was detained following an earlier incident where he escaped from police custody.
He was arrested for breaching the covid-19 guidelines and the Standard Operating Procedures as per the Electoral Commission restricting to guide candidates during the 2021 general elections campaign period.
According to background sources, the legislator complained about feeling unwell to the Pader District Police Commander, Ramathan Thai.
He was then rushed to Gulu regional referral hospital for emergency treatments.
At Gulu referral, the legislator received treatments related to suspected poisoning and referred to Mulago hospital for further treatments which he objected.
The MP alleges that he fell sick after drinking a bottle of mineral water at Pader police station however, he did not disclose the person who served him the water.
Last week, Hon. Odongo Otto lost the Aruu South county MP seat to Dr. Christopher Komakech.
His rivals alleges that the sickness could be as a result of political trauma.
