The Uganda Peoples Congress has Welcomed news from the Confederation of African Football which declared Uganda alongside kenya and Tanzania to to host the African Cup of Nations tournament in 2027.
This was revealed by the Party Spokesperson Oyat Arach Sharon during their weekly press conference at their Party headquarters at Uganda House.
“AFCON 2027 will be hosted by the three countries Uganda,Kenya and Tanzania . This is a great opportunity for the region as it is going to be a show case for our potential, culture and tourism industry which needs to be tapped in very much” Oyat said.
She however noted that AfCON bid is an uphill task for Uganda because it cannot host any international football match due to the sorry state of the stadia in the country that do not meet the standard requirements of CAF and the Federation of International Football Association (FIFA).
She further called upon government to invest in massive infrastructure development before 2027 which is not so far from today .
