The President of the Uganda People’s Congress (UPC) Mr. Jimmy Akena has taken full charge of the party’s affairs, citing concerns about infighting and lack of direction. He expressed disappointment with some cabinet members who spent more time quarreling with each other instead of working towards the party’s goals.
The UPC President has appointed Hajji Kazimbiraine Mahmoud and other members to oversee the party’s electoral commission and has relieved three commissioners of their duties for overstepping their mark.” Naomi Natukunda, Magero Ware and Jack Kawusi, kindly step aside the party will move on”, said Mr. Akena.
In a separate matter, He addressed the President of Uganda, calling for an honest conversation about the country’s history and development. The leader also criticized the government’s tendency to manipulate information and distort history, citing an example of a false claim about Busolway hospital that it was constructed bt NRM.
Mr Akena’s actions are seen as a bid to revitalize the party and restore its relevance in Ugandan politics. The party’s future direction and ability to deliver on its promises will be closely watched by its supporters and the wider public.
