Nabilah Naggayi Ssempala has been denied the Forum for Democratic Change [FDC] ticket to contest for the Kampala Lord Mayor hot seat in the 2021 elections.
Nabilah who had earlier today brought back her nomination papers for the aforementioned position was frustrated upon being told the party was not in position to receive her papers because she was past submission deadline.
She is the incumbent Woman Member of Parliament forKampala on the FDC ticket.
Boniface Toterebuka Bamwenda, the EC Chairman for the FDC told reports that they stopped receiving nomination papers yesterday Tuesday 14July.
He instead advised her to either contest as independent or look for another party.
The FDC Deputy Secretary General, Harlod Kaijja said Nabilah’s forms contained irregularities because they were not provided to her by the party.
“She is not among the people who had picked nomination forms from our offices. If she had picked the forms, she would be aware of the deadlines,” said Kaijja.
Nabilah’s next move in politics remains uncertain but corridors have it that she is likely to follow suit the footsteps of other opposition leaders who have joined Gen Muntu’s Alliance for National Transformation (ANT) party while others pin her to the ruling NRM.
