BUSHENYI
A 46-year-old woman was on Sunday January 28, 2024, found dead in suspected suicide in Bushenyi district.
The incident occured in the night of January 27, at unknown time in Rwekitooma village, Nyarugoote parish, Nyabubare sub-county, Bushenyi district.
SSP Martial Tumusiime, police spokesperson for Great Bushenyi region has identified the deceased as Dinah Kyomuhangi, a resident of Rwekitooma village in Nyabubare.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the deceased was a known victim of mental illnesses. She first telephoned his son a one Rirchard Kamusiime asking him to.come home or else he would not see her again.
“The deceased had earlier called the son one Kamusiime Richard a day before informing him to come and see her or else he would not see her any more and she is said to have been having a mental illness since her child hood,” Martial said.
The body was seen by a herdsman only identified as Aine who informed the area Local Council chairperson, Noah Mukundane who report the matter to police.
Police arrived at the scene and the body was found hanging in a guava tree in suspected suicide with a rope in her neck, bitten tongue out with faeces in her clothes.
The body was retrieved from the tree and taken to KIU hospital for postmortem and a suicide case vide Nyabubare SD ref 05/28/01/2024 then Bushenyi Def 002/2024 was registered to commence investigations.
