KAMPALA
Former Zombo district woman MP aspirant Afoyochan Esther has launched a scathing attack on Kasambya County MP and Patriotic League of Uganda (PLU) Secretary General, Daudi Kabanda, accusing him of hypocrisy, blackmail and exploiting his close association with Speaker of Parliament Anita Among for personal gain.
In a lengthy Tik Tok video outburst, Esther described Kabanda, also known as a “fraudster” who allegedly isolated the Speaker from her supporters while pretending to defend her political interests.
“If you had never met someone bad in this country, I want to introduce you to one Daudi Kabanda,” Esther said, accusing the legislator of positioning himself at the centre of Among’s camp and blocking access to her by fellow politicians and supporters.
Her remarks come amid growing tensions within the Patriotic League of Uganda (PLU), a pressure group associated with Chief of Defence Forces Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba, over leadership positions in Parliament ahead of the 12th Parliamentary speaker elections.
Esther criticised Kabanda for publicly reading a PLU statement withdrawing support for Among, arguing that the task should have been left to the organisation’s official spokesperson, not Kabanda who has long positioned himself as Among’s blue-eyed boy.
“The issue is not even the withdrawal itself. My problem is that it should never have been Kabanda reading that statement,” she said.
She further alleged that Kabanda wielded excessive influence around the Speaker, claiming he spent long hours at her residence and controlled who accessed her.
“Among fed you. You [Kabanda] used to have breakfast, eat lunch and super at the speaker’s house in Kololo, you even Impregnated some of her casual workers,” she added.
According to Esther, Kabanda also allegedly pressured MPs to sign positions aligned with PLU interests by invoking Gen. Muhoozi’s name.
“He called MPs telling them to sign, threatening them with removal from positions and claiming it was the stand of PLU,” she alleged.
Esther further claimed that President Yoweri Museveni had previously rejected Kabanda’s proposed appointment to a parliamentary commission, allegedly describing him as a “fraudster.”
She accused Kabanda of benefiting from Among’s generosity, including access to a government vehicle and other privileges, while later turning against her politically.
“What did Anita ever do to you other than support you?” Esther asked.
The former aspirant also accused Kabanda of sowing division among MPs and manipulating political processes for survival.
“There is no MP Anita has not supported in the constituency, but some of us were undermined because of blackmail,” she said.
Efforts to obtain a comment from Kabanda were not immediately successful by press time.
The latest fallout highlights deepening divisions within political camps linked to the forthcoming parliamentary leadership contests, with rival factions increasingly trading accusations in public.
