The minister for presidency Esther Mbayo has confirmed that over 442 dignitaries including 21 heads of States on the African continent and from abroad shall attend to president Museveni Swearing-in ceremony on May 12th.
The auspicious event will take place at Kololo Ceremonial Grounds on Wednesday May 12th.
Mbayo who declined to disclose which heads of state will be said an invitation was extended to 42 heads of state both from Africa and the rest of the world.
Among the invited guest include; all former presidential candidates, ministers and junior ministers of state, all MPs-elect, members of the Central Executive Committee, some religious and cultural leaders, 17 delegates from each district, members of the East African Legislative Assembly, and some members of the business community.
Addressing a presser on Tuesday at the Uganda Media Center-UMC Mbayo said they have contained the numbers to keep up with the Standard Operating Procedures-SOPs on Covid-19.
Mbayo says that all invited guests will have to undergo a Covid-19 test before they are allowed access to the Kololo Ceremonial Grounds where the swearing-in will take place.
She however says the heads of state are to be tested before entering the country while their entourage will be tested here.
She further explained that despite the Ministry of Health’s recommended number of guests is restricted to only 200, adjustments were made after consulting based on the nature of the occasion and that it only happens every 5 years.
Mbayo also says all SOPs such as social distancing and hand washing will be observed on the inauguration day.
