The High Court Commercial Division has stayed the execution, pending the hearing of application in which Jomayi Satellite Estates Boss, Joseph Yiga Magandazi alias Jomayi is constesting the decision by Court to allow Lt. Gen. Henry Tumukunde evict 0ver 1,000 squarters at the Njagi-Ssabagabo land in Mpigi District.
Tumukunde had applied for a warrant of attachment, claiming he demands Shs 1.1b from Magandazi and instructed court bailiffs to execute the attachment which could evict over 1,000 people on a 200- acre land.
However, court presided over by Justice Stephen Mubiru of Commercial Court stayed the execution after Magandazi filed an application to the same court seeking contesting the attachment.
Justice Mubiru issued the directive to stay execution noting that Jomayi and the residents may suffer irreparable loss if execution is granted.
Edward Mwebaze, the Jomayi Satellite Estates’ operations manager assured the residents that nobody will evict them. He said that Tumukunde was paid and that they were waiting for court to compel him to deposit land titles in court.
