The Inspectorate of Government (IG) has on Friday disclosed that they are hunting for fired Uganda Lands Commission Boss, Beatrice Byenkya Nyakaisiki over abuse of office.
This was after three police officer attached to Byenkya’s personal security were arrested and arraigned to court that charged them with obstruction of search and abuse of office on Friday afternoon.

According to a charge sheet seen by www.parrotsug.com , Byenkya and three police officers Police Constable Richard Geoffrey Anywar, Titus Wamono and Edward Turyatunga had been charged with obstruction of search and abuse of office.
The IG stated that on January 4 while at ULC, Byenkya together with her three security officers unlawfully obstructed and hindered Micheal Tumukurate, Zakaria Tiberindwa and Superitendent of Police Noreen Akello all fro m the IG from carrying out a search in the office of the chairperson while they were acting in the powers conferred by the Inspectorate of Government Act, 2002.
On count two of abuse of office contrary to section 11 (1) and (2) of the Anti-Corruption Act, 2009, the IG says that Byenkya, Anywar Wamono and Turyatunga while employeed as chairperson ULC and Police constables respectively, at Kampala on January 4, 2022, did in abuse of authority of their offices, wilfully obstructed and hindered the lawful search of the office of the chaiperson ULC, arbitrary acts prejudicial to the interests of their employer the government of Uganda and the Inspectorate Government.
Last week, Byenkya was fired from her office as Chairperson ULC together with the commission’s secretary Barbarah Imaryo to allow proper investigations into the matter.
Byenkya was replaced by Prof Pen Nyeko Mogi, while Imaryo was replaced by Nyumba Henry as Acting Chairperson and Acting Secretary respectively, until the case was concluded.
