Enthusiastic Bosco Tumuramye has pledged to avail agricultural and life skilling projects to the youths hailing from Mitooma district as a mean of curbing down youth unemployment in the district.

Bosco Tumuramye, founder Cardinal Life for a Purpose Foundation.

Speaking to this online publication during a one on one interview with our reporter, Tumuramye who is vying for the LCV Youth Councillor seat for the same district stressed out a need to draw the youth into available opportunities in agriculture, vocational and other life skill projects.

Tumuramye’s expressions come at a time when a large sections of the youth from different sub counties of Mitooma accuse the youth and district administration of the imbalanced and unfair distribution of the Youth Livelihood Programme (YLP) funds as well other opportunities and resources meant for the youth.

‘There are several reports of the youth accusing administrators at the district of favouritism in offices. Most recent being the saga in which some officials at the district were arrested on allegations of extorting money from the unemployed youth promising to get them employed in different positions at the district.’

According to Tumuramye, the challenges affecting youth in Mitooma can only be addressed by engaging them in agricultural programs, vocational & skilling projects such as brick laying, Book making, Fashion & designs, Boda Boda projects, Saloons & Hair dressings, Career Guidance workshops, Experts Talks to mention but a few.

He is optimistic that establishing a district micro finance sacco would enable the youth to acquire agricultural, Boda Boda, group / individual loans at little or no interest rates to boost their projects including sensitizing the youth on proper financial literacy, and crisis managements.

Be as it may, he expressed his willingness to go to great pains to ensure the existing and new Youth groups get registered as Community Based Organisations to equally benefit from the Youth Livelihood Programme and other available opportunities in the district.

“I’m focused to Uplifting all youth programs and encouraging talents in youth for example uplifting & formulating on of the very best FOOTBALL TEAMS in the district that can compete with other districts,” Tumuramye stressed.

On Education and Vocational studies, he could not hold tears on the backsliding levels of Vocational & Technical studies in the district despite having one of the national recognized Technical Institutions.

” I have a cry as a youth seeing KABIRA TECHNICAL INSTITUTE that had reached on awarding of diplomas and was latter lowered Back to certificate, as an educated youth, it pains me,” an  emotionally looking  Tumuramye stated.

He further suggests for career guidances in lower & post secondary, Universities & Tertiary  Institutions to uplift education which according to him shall equip the youth with self employment skills. He also suggests for funding Debating clubs in schools, conducting Annual Debating competition at the district levels to enable young learners acquire communication and public speaking skills which will later expose them to other new opportunities.

Tumuramye is a founder of Cardinal Life for a Purpose Foundation (CLPF), a CBO aiming to provide Mentorship training, Career Guidance in Schools, Capacity Building in organizations to mention but three.

Bosco Tumuramye during a Career Guidance Workshop at Ruhinda SSS Mitooma organized by CLPF.

He is currently aspiring for LCV Youth Councillor Mitooma district on NRM ticket. Other People who have so far declared interests in the seat include Ashaba Gift Arnold, among others.

Tumuramye’s name became popular at Kampala International University while he served as the College Member of Parliament in the University Guild Council representing the School of Computing and Information Technology (SCIT) in the 2018/19 Guild Union in which he doubled as a Cultural & Religious Minister. He also served both as President ant Trainer KIU Ankole Students Association [KIUASA], co founder of Mitooma Students at KIU an Umbrella Association for Alumni & Continuing University Students at KIU campuses.

Born from Runyinya cell, Nyakateete parish Kabira Sub county Ruhinda Mitooma district, Tumuramye attended Kabira Town School for his elementary studies, Unique High in Rubirizi and Plus Two High School Bushenyi for O & A’level respectively.

From there, he joined Kampala International University (KIU Kansanga) where he graduated in Bachelor of Information Technology in 2019.

Apparently, under his founded 15 board CLPF organization, he has been offering academic and career talks in various secondary schools in and outside Mitooma.

He serves as the Welfare officer at the National Interuniversity NRM Chapter, Patron Kampala University Karo Karungi Students Association and Internal Patron of KIUASA that is under full patronage of Igara East’s Andrew Marshal.
