The Acting High Court Judge, Dr. Douglas Singiza has earlier this morning granted a 2.5m shillings cash bail to revolutionary Col. Dr. Kizza Besigye and his co accused Walter Samuel Lubega Mukaku each amid rigorous orders

The duo was appearing before the Buganda Road Court Chief Magistrate Court presided over by Dr. Singiza a renown FDC despot who ordered the two political activists not to make any public comments about the case until its hearing is complete.

Each of the duos sureties has been bonded Shs500 million, non cash.

In his ruling, Dr. Singiza said that their case would be fixed for day-today hearing before the trial magistrate.

Dr. Kizza Besigye’s wife also head of UNAIDS Winnie Besigye Byanyima at the of appeal in Kampala on June30, to stand surety of her husband on charges of inciting violence

The release of Dr. Kizza Besigye and Mukaku on bail comes few hours after Kampala High Court judge Tadeo Asiimwe rejected their bail application at the Court of Appeal yesterday.

Justice Asiimwe argued that they had to first exhaust the administrative functions of the Magistrate’s Court.

The Arrested

Besigye and Mukaku have been in detention since June 15 when they were arrested in downtown Kampala rallying masses to wake up and protest against the exorbitant prices of commodities in the country.

They were first detained at CPS Kampala before they were transferred to Naggalama Police Station in Mukono District.

On June 17, they were arraigned before Buganda Road Court presided over by grade one magistrate Asuman Muhumuza. Court denied them bail after the magistrate noted that theyon had become “habitual offenders” and remanded them to Luzira prison unt today when they have been released.
