The Police in Rukiga District are investigating circumstances surrounding the death of two juveniles identified as Macklin Amumpire 14 years old and Vincent Akandwanaho aged 10 years both pupils of Kihorezo Primary School.
The Kigezi Regional Police Spokesman Elly Maate today morning revealed to journalists that the deceased are children to Regina Turinawe and Bernard Rushijja residents of Rutoma cell Nyakagabagaba Parish in Rwamucucu Sub county, Rukiga district.
It is alleged that the mother of the children received several threats from one Alban who was employed as a shamba boy on a banana plantation in the said village before he was suspended and replaced with Turinawe as the new care taker.
This did not go well with the Alban and he started threatening to kill her, which she took serious and reported to the area local council authority.
Maate adds that “On 18th October Turinawe(Mother to the deceased) lost a relative in Wachebe village in Kyerero Sub county where together with her husband left for burial, leaving the two juveniles at home under instructions that immediately they return from school they must cook faster before 7pm and they lock themselves in the house because of the constant threats from Alban.”
However, yesterday evening when the parents returned from the burial, they found when the front door of the main house was closed and when they moved nearer, they discovered the house was unlocked and books scattered every where in the house.
“When the Parents opened the window of their bed room, they realized that the children were sleeping, called them by names and there was no response, that’s when they realized that they were killed,” Maate explained.
The Parents made an alarm which attracted the neighbors and other a case of murder was reported to police by the sub-county chairperson Eddie Mugisha.
The scene of the crime was visisted and processed and the bodies were taken to the hospital for a postmortum. Maate confided to reports that the bodies were handed over to the relatives for burial while Alban, a prime suspect is at Mparo Health Centre III for treatment as a result of beatings from the residents from where he will be charged.
