Pastor Mary Byarutsya from Gomba who was abducted by unknown assailants on her way from a Christian mission in Mbarara on February 6 has been rescued.
According to police, the pastor was found in Ruhumba- Rubindi town council, Mbarara district.
ASP Samson Kasasiira, the police spokesperson for Rwizi region said that the pastor was rescued following the Joint Flying Squad and Chieftaincy of Military Intelligence (CMI).
Kasasiira confirmed that they shot dead three suspected kidnappers in Rubindi Mbarara last night.They are Behakanira Andrew a.k.a Bashir while others are yet to identify.
The assailants according to police were travelling in a motor vehicle registration number UAZ 935N, Toyota Premio when they were killed. Kasasiira says that they tried to fight police and forcefully get guns from them which prompted security to shoot at three of them in defense.

By press time, Pastor Byarusya was still receiving treatment at a hospital in Mbarara waiting to be reunited with her family.
