Court in Kampala has sent to remand the former Kawempe south legislator, Hon. Mubarak Munyagwa alias Mugatti Gwa Butter on criminal charges of trespass, malicious damage and conspiracy to commit a felony.
According to reports, the MP together with five other accomplices while at Mutungo cell in Wakiso district allegedly destroyed destroyed a cassava garden of a one Janan Opio valued at 5 million shillings.
The other suspects are businessman Paddy Kabuye, Godfrey Buwembo, Joweria Nakafeero, Isa Ssekitoleko and others still at large. They are also accused of criminal trespass to the land comprised of LRV 3839 Folio 20, Kyadondo Block 272 Plot 256 owned by Dechomia Asset Trust Number Three LCC with the intentions to annoy the said owner.
They were earlier today arraigned before the Kajjansi Chief Magistrate, Doreen Karungi but they denied the charges against them prompting the magistrate to remand them to Luzira Prison until June 12, when they will returned to court to hear their case.
The remand follow the Tuesday morning arrest and pre-mature detention at Kajjansi police station before they were produced to court.
Munyagwa and his accomplices are facing two counts of criminal trespass and conspiracy to commit a felony contrary to section 302(1) of the Penal Code Act which according to court records were committed between May 26 and June 3, 2023 at Mutungo cell in Wakiso district.
