At least 20 people have been arrested in the ongoing investigations into the ADF attack on Lhubiriha Secondary School, in Karambi Mpondwe Kasese last week.
Fred Enanga, the police spokesperson disclosed that among the arrested suspects are director and Head Master of the Lhubiriha Secondary school and 18 others suspected to be ADF collaborators.
Enanga clarified that these have been arrested to aid in the ongoing investigations.
Friday night’s brutal attack on Lhubiriha left 42 people dead majority students. They were tortured killed, burnt while others were abducted.
Police has identified the deceased as Muhinda Wapaliyo, Kiiza Kabugo Rosette, Kamala Lucia, Kule Martin, Maserika Elton, Masika Rosette, Katusime Ruth, Mazalaki Martins, Mbusa Ruhandi, 47 year a watchman at school,Nyakato Elizabeth, Bira loneti, Bira Gawuba, Bira Amina, Mbambu Junior, Kabugo Jovia, Maserika Zakayo 70 year peasant, Masika Florence 95 year, Kabugo Maserini, Kabugo Junior,Itungo Regina,Itungo Markilin, Kabugo Bridget.
Twenty five bodies have been examined for postmortem at Bwera hospital and 23 of these have been handed over to their relatives and family members but noted two others have not been claimed, according to police.
Enanga further adds that medical and forensic team from police headquarters Naguru have also examined 17 male bodies of the students who had been burnt beyond recognition.
“We have managed to pick DNA samples from the bodies and relatives for comparison, six other victims are still receiving treatment in different hospitals in Beera, Kiruddu and Mulago,” he said.
Four students Mumbere Edgar, Kato Moses, Muhindo Steven, and Kambesa Gideon narrowly survived the torturous attack.
