Hon. Jimmy Akena, the Uganda People’s Congress party president has vowed to protect votes for their candidate in the Oyam North County by-election so that no rigging takes place.
“I’m here in Oyam until the final vote is cast and I will make sure that every vote that has been cast for my candidate is counted,” he said
Akena made the remarks on Thursday (June 29) while canvassing for votes for Dr. Eunice Otuko Apio – the UPC flagbearer.
The by-election in Oyam are scheduled for 6th July 2023, according to the Electoral Commission.
Four candidates including Dr. Okello Freddy Newton (FDC), Okello Samuel Engola (NRM), Dr. Eunice Apio Otuko (UPC) and Daniel Okello (NUP) are contesting for this Parliamentary seat.
