The Uganda Peoples Forces has received four guns from the karacuna’s of the Karamoja sub region on a voluntary basis to promote amnesty in the region.

This was confirmed by the Defence Spokesperson Brig. Gen. Felix Kulayigye on Monday.

“Four guns have today been received by the joint security forces in the karamoja sub region,” he said

The guns were recovered from Anyakun Emmanuel, a resident of Lomoruchubai village Napak. District, Igira Laurian and Ekude Apalosira both residents of Kamuru sub county kotido district and Loiki Ekono Simon resident of Lotim Subcounty Kaabong district.

Kulayigye said that Lt Col. Stephen, the coordinator of Karachunas under the Karamoja Development Program (KDP)at the Division Headquarters in Moroto Barracks.

Hike receiving the militia, Butungi encouraged the gesture of voluntary approach to disarm operations and assured all warriors voluntarily handing over the armaments of their safety and security.

“As we give you (Anyakun Emmanuel) a certificate. You are now a free man and I urge you to persuade Karachuna’s to do the same,” he said

The other Karachuna’s Apalosira Ekude and Igira Laurian handed over guns UE 55721998 , 05552 respectively to Maj Emmy Kafureka ,the commanding officer of 43 infantry Battalion which operates under 405 brigade.

“The fourth gun (84MP5356BC with one Bullet ) was received from Ekono Simon by Lt Col Gaston Mugarura , the commanding officer of 45 infantry Battalion” Brig. Gen.  Kulayigye explained

He revealed that the latest recovery of guns comes out when senior leaders across the sub region carry out community mobilization to change strategies considering amnesty window as guided by the strategic leadership.
