The Uganda Registration Services Bureau (URSB) court has dismissed a case filed by Gashumba accusing the office of the president for using the slogan “TOVA KU MAIN” and a picture of President Museveni which he claim ownership and copyright.
Delivering his judgment, the court registrar Birungi Denis said that by the time Gashumba registered the slogan in URSB,the office of the president had already launched it.
In June this year, socialite Frank Gashumba and the Lwengo district LC5 chairperson Ibrahim Kittatta Almalik lodged the case to court of Uganda registration services Bureau (URSB) accusing the office of the President for using the ” TOVA KUMAIN” slogan
Delivering his judgment, URSB Registrar Denis Birungi noted that the claims for ownership and copyright of Gashumba and Kitatta were not true.
According to the ruling ,the complainants registered the slogan after it has been launched by the office of the president and they had no ownership over the image of the president used .
Gashumba was in this case was represented by his lawyer Blaire Ntambi,and Hajjat Namyalo was represented by Usaama Sebuufu .
Frank Gashumba , the petitioner number one , said he is not satisfied with the ruling and will appeal to high Court
The ‘Tova Ku Main’ slogan championed by Hajjat Namyalo gained momentum in late 2022 and is frequently used at NRM functions and events where President Yoweri Museveni has been endorsed for extending his leadership beyond 2026.
