SHEEMA
Kashekuro catholic parish in Sheema district, Parish Priest Rev. Fr. Adrian Benywanira has asked the faithful to emulate Jesus’ humility and use Christmas season to seek for peace, reconciliation and God’s love.
He was presiding over the Christmas day second Holy Mass at the parish when he urged christians to show love for each other and eschew bigotry during difficult times.
The mass was dominated by youth whom he referred to as “Abakyakaze” meaning vibe makers who he challenged not to consider Christmas as a day of making pleasures but giving thanks to Lord by honoring, praising and glorifying his name as well as reflecting on their spiritual growth.
Pointing out an example of a nursery pupil and his teacher to explain humility, stating that the best trick nursery teachers lower down themselves to the height level of the pupils making communication better for both parties, the priest emphasized on humility as an important virtue for all christians.
He also challenged that the church was full beyond capacity on Christmas day and encouraged the congregation especially natives who rarely go to church to continue coming to church to honor and praise God throughout their lives beyond just festivities like Christmas day.
During the mass celebration, Muhwezi Paul Bakyengana, a famous Kampala businessman and Uganda Country Manager at TAM Associates Public Accountants pledged 50 iron sheets towards the parish hall construction and urged other Christians to do their duties and they combine efforts in developing the parish.
