Police in Kabale municipality have successfully carried out intelligence-led operations and arrested suspected criminals who have been terrorizing the area.
The operations, led by District Police Commander SP Joseph Bakaleke, resulted in the arrest of several individuals, including known criminal Solomon Musinguzi Erias, also known as Solo.
Solo, who hails from Karugashi cell in Butobere ward, Central division, was apprehended at Bombokya entertainment center on March 22nd, 2024 along with others who are still at large, allegedly attacked and robbed a businesswoman named Stella Komujuni of valuable possessions, including a Samsung Galaxy A 50 smartphone, a power bank, cash, and a set of keys. The victim was hospitalized for several days following the incident, and Solo will be facing charges of aggravated robbery.
In addition to Solo, 21 other individuals were taken into custody during the operations. Some of them were found in possession of illegal substances, stolen items such as ATM cards and phones, as well as tools for breaking into houses. They were unable to provide valid identification or explain their activities, prompting further investigation.
Police has reassured the public that they will continue to crack down on criminal elements in Kabale municipality and the surrounding areas. They urge residents to report any suspicious activities to help maintain peace and security in the region.
ASP Elly Maate, the police PRO for Kigezi region, emphasized the importance of community involvement in combating crime and ensuring the safety of all residents. The efforts of the police and other security agencies rely on the cooperation and vigilance of the public to address and prevent criminal activities effectively.
