The incident affected two boys dormitories, Peace and Rich, located at Rwenyaga cell in Ryamiyonga Parish, Mwizi subcounty.

While they were able to rescue property from the Rich dormitory, unfortunately, the Peace dormitory and its contents, including the roof, were destroyed by the fire but no students were harmed in the incident.
Preliminary investigations suggest that a charcoal flat iron left unattended on a bed may have been the cause of the fire outbreak. The authorities are continuing their inquiries to establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident.
SP Kasasira Samson the PRO RWIZI region, has issued a statement on the matter, reassuring the public that investigations are underway to determine the cause of the fire at Rwenyaga Secondary School.
