A severe water shortage has struck Mbarara and neighboring Kabaare in Masha, leaving residents desperate for a solution. The crisis has been triggered by a pump breakdown at the main station in Ruharo, according to Julius Mugisha, NWSC spokesperson for Mbarara head office.
Although a replacement pump was installed, it proved inadequate to meet the demand, Mugisha revealed. However, he assured that a more powerful pump is being sourced from Lira and is expected to be installed by tomorrow, June 2nd, 2024.
Residents have been urged to remain patient as NWSC works tirelessly to rectify the issue. However, some residents like Sseguja Christopher, a new resident in Kabaare Masha, have expressed frustration. Christopher has been without water for three weeks, despite promises from NWSC to restore the supply.
The water crisis has affected many areas, leaving residents without access to clean water. NWSC is working to resolve the issue as soon as possible to alleviate the suffering of the affected communities.
In the meantime, residents are advised to seek alternative sources of water or rely on stored water. The water crisis has raised concerns about the reliability of the water supply system in Mbarara, and residents are calling for a long-term solution to prevent such crises in the future.
