Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) calls for the end of exchanging words between the Katikkiro (Prime Minister) of Buganda and the Bataka (Clan leaders) .

Earlier today, Katikkiro Charles Peter Mayiga addressed journalists at Bulange Mengo, cautioning against individuals spreading false propaganda that undermines the Kabaka and violates Buganda Kingdom traditions.

Addressing the media on Monday 22nd July 2024 at the FDC Headquarters in Najjanankumbi, John Kikonyogo the party spokesperson revealed that what is transpiring in Buganda is just a shame.

“Exchanging words between the Katikkiro and the Bataka is lowering the dignity of Buganda, we are appealing to the Katikkiro to act upon it and cut off the chain because what was making them exchange words was the disappearance of the Kabaka but God willing, the Kabaka is back to the throne, so let’s restore the dignity of Buganda and we pray for his life.” said Kikonyogo.

Following this, the Kabaka of Buganda His Highness Ronald Mwenda Mutebi II left uganda in April to Namibian capital of Windhoek where he has been getting treatment at Okonguari psycho therapentic centre.

Exchange of words sparked off between the Katikkiro of Buganda Charles Peter Mayiga and the Bataka (Clan Heads), who were on Katikkiro’s neck demanding for their King’s whereabouts who had taken long without being seen by the subjects.

A section of clan leaders (Bataka) travelled to Namibia seeking audience with their Kabaka but unfortunately they were denied access.

The Kabaka was received yesterday Sunday 21st July 2024 at Entebbe Airport by the Katikkiro after the repulsion of his Visa extension request by the Namibian government due to over demands and protests by the Baganda.

FDC says sanity should be restored and the two groups bury their hatchets for a united Buganda Kingdom.
