As the Uganda Red Cross Society (URCS) prepares to celebrate its 60th anniversary, the organization is calling on Ugandans and well-wishers to join forces in making a positive impact across the country.
In a public awareness campaign held today 5th August, 2024 at Jinja Road, URCS officials shared initiatives aimed at raising funds for various programs and educated the public about the organization’s crucial role in Uganda.
Robert Kwesiga, URCS Secretary General, highlighted the Society’s remarkable journey and announced that main celebrations will be held in September with the launch of the Uganda Red Cross Humanitarian Fund.
This year’s theme, “Humanity needs you,” emphasizes the importance of individual and collective contributions to serving humanity. Kwesiga urged the public to make any kind of contribution, whether as an organization, individual, or community.
He noted that contributions can take various forms, including donating blood to save lives, volunteering, and generating funds to support the organization’s efforts. Kwesiga emphasized that the URCS aims to reduce reliance on external groups and instead empower Ugandans to take ownership of serving humanity.
The public is encouraged to join the Uganda Red Cross Society in its mission to make a positive impact and celebrate 60 years of humanitarian service.
