The Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) faction at Najjanankumbi has said that they will not allow the illegitimate move by Katonga group to dissolve the party.

On Monday, the Katonga faction announced at their National Delegates Conference plans to form a new political party, dissolve FDC and transfer party assets to the new formation.

In response, Eng. Patrick Oboi Amuriat, President of the FDC (Najjanankumbi group) likened the decision by the Katonga faction, led by Kampala Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago, Kira municipality MP Ibrahim Ssemujju Nganda, Amb. Wasswa Birigwa, and Dr. Besigye, to a neighbor attempting to make decisions in a house they don’t own.

“The only legitimate body that is authorized to engage in the process of dissolving the party as per Article 36 of the Party Constitution is the leadership at Najjanankumbi under the stewardship of Chairman Hon. Jack Sabiiti. So our colleagues at Katonga have no locus of dissolving the party,” he added.

Amuriat alleged that Besigye of numerous attempts to tarnish his image and that of the party Secretary General, Nandala Mafabi. He accused him of being a political double dealer who thinks he is the only one that can offer leadership for FDC.

“Upto now as we all know that Mr. Museveni has never dreamt of life outside Presidency with more ambiguities on a succession plan. It’s worse with our brother Col. Besigye for as long as he is not the leader of this Party or any anti Government organization, the country, and the entire world has no person that can serve better than him, ” said Amuriat.

Amuriat speaking in an emotional tone, criticized leaders of the Katonga, including Hon. Ssemujju Nganda, whom he referred to as “Speaker Among’s peg boy” and accused of having low integrity due to alleged corrupt behavior.

Additionally, Amuriat claimed that Buhweju MP Francis Mwijukye, who he called “Nsumba Byuma” before mocking his speech difficulties is secretly working for Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba’s Patriotic League of Uganda (PLU) and accused him of extorting money from Ugandans, including 56 MPs who he said have already complained about the legislator’s misconduct. Amuriat further claimed that Besigye’s new political formation is merely an extension of PLU and lacks a viable future for Uganda.

Nevertheless, the FDC party president assured millions of their supporters and sympathizers that FDC will remain alive and they will continue to uphold their shared values.
