A total of 17,652 candidates recorded excellent performance in the June 2024, Nursing and Midwifery national exams, Uganda Nurses and Midwives Examination Board (UNMEB) has announced.
This was during the official release of the 37th series of exam results at State House Nakaseero on Thursday September 26.
During the examination results release ceremony, Hellen Mukakarisa, the Executive Secretary of UNMEB, revealed that the board recorded a significant improvement in overall performance compared to previous years.
A total of 18,470 final-year students from across the country participated in the exams, with 15,848 pursuing certificate programs and 2,622 enrolled in diploma courses. Of the total candidates, 17,652 successfully passed their exams, marking a strong success rate. 13,775 were female while 4,695 male.
However, 635 candidates did not receive a grade and will be required to retake their exams.
“Generally, the performance of the 37th series is better than that of the 35th series, as evidenced by more candidates attaining distinctions and credits, with fewer of them receiving pass grades,” said Mukakarisa UNMEB Executive Secretary.
According to the released results, students who sat for Certificate in Nursing exams performed better than their counterparts who sat for Certificate in Midwifery exams and the Certificate in Mental Health Nursing programs.
It was further revealed that eight (08) students who sat for the June 2024, UNMEB exams did not receive their results due to alleged examination malpractices.
Mukakarisa noted that the Board is following the proper procedure for addressing candidates involved in exam cheating as outlined in the UNMEB Statutory Instrument and Regulations.
