A 25-year-old nursing student, Rashid Bukenya has been arrested in connection with two recent child abductions in Kiboga district.careercareer.
Rashid was arrested on Wednesday following a police investigation into two separate kidnapping incidents that occurred on October 5 and 12.
The Wamala region police spokesperson, Racheal Kawala, said the suspect was interrogated and confessed to his role in the abductions.
“During interrogation, he admitted to participating in two kidnappings on October 5 and 12, involving a 4-year-old and a 3-year-old, respectively,” Kawala explained.
In both cases, police reported, the suspect and his accomplices demanded ransom payments of Shs300,000 for the first child and Shs400,000 for the second.
Police launched intensive search operations and both children were rescued alive.
Kawala said the suspect is currently detained at Kiboga CPS pending court. She raised alarms over rise in abduction cases, urging parents to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities in their communities.
