The Abok sub-county chairperson LC3 Phillips Ogile, in Oyam district has been sent to remand to Lira Central Prison after he was found guilty of assaulting aids to Ugandan deputy ambassador to Sudan, Dickson Ogwang and maliciously damaging his vehicle.
The Grade One Magistrate Court on Thursday heard that Ogile and others still at large while at Senior Quarters in East Division, Lira City on November 1, 2024 attacked Ogwang’s vehicle registration number UBD 315 D, injured three occupants including his driver, Andrew Opudu, and local personal guards; Leonard Ocean and Edward Okello and caused damages to the vehicle.Ogwang was reportedly not in the car when the incident happened.
The Thursday Court presided over by grade one magistrate Sylvia Kampire, charged Ogile with four counts of assault and malicious damage. The magistrate also remanded him to Lira Central Prison until December 5, when he will appear before the Chief Magistrate to take a plea of the charges against him.
