Speaking at a patriotism training for university leaders at Nkumba University, in Entebbe municipality, Wakiso district, Bainababo emphasized that every citizen contributes to the country’s growth.

Gen. Bainababo highlighted that national security goes beyond military defense to include economic and food security. She urged students to focus on acquiring knowledge, sharing it with their communities, and avoiding actions that could harm Uganda’s peace and progress.

She inspired students to be agents of change, stating, “You’re not too young to transform society. Start now by setting goals and contributing to your family and community development.”

“Have something to sell, advertise it online because it will not be long before you are out of that University Hall and your parents will have stopped paying tuition for you and upkeep. Everything you want to do later, start it now,” She added

Students attending patriotism training at Nkumba University organized by NSPC on day 2.

The training, organized by the National Secretariat for Patriotism Corps (NSPC) under the office of the President, aims to equip student leaders with leadership skills and promote national unity. The event began on January 3, 2025, with participants expected to emerge as informed, patriotic leaders ready to address the country’s challenges.

Brig. Gen. Bainababo, who also doubles as the UPDF member of parliament in the 11th parliament further urged the leaders to avoid negativity about Uganda, reminding them that finding solutions will secure a better future for all.

Day 2 of the Patriotism and leadership training at Nkumba University.

According to Bainababo, the young people possess a deeper understanding of the world and a critical role in shaping their communities and country. She said finding solutions to the country’s challenges rather than perpetuating negativity will enable the young people who constitute the biggest percentage of the country’s population to significantly contribute to national building and secure their future and that of other generations to come.

Student leaders attending the training are expected to emerge with enhanced leadership skills, a broader understanding of patriotism and national values, increased confidence, and a robust network of fellow student leaders. They will be tasked with applying their knowledge and skills to build a better future for Uganda.
