KAMPALA
Doctors from Rubaga hospital have clarified that Kawempe North member of parliament, Muhammad Ssegirinya is not dead as it was earlier reported in the media.
According to the doctors, SSegirinya is still alive with some heartbeat although in critical conditions.
This was further confirmed by the speaker of parliament Annette Anita Among in her communication to open the plenary session this morning; “Upon consultation with the doctors, they informed us that his organs have collapsed, but the heart is still on, so ethically, they cannot pronounce him dead. We’ll keep the house posted, but he is in critical condition,” Speaker Among said.
The NUP President, Hon. Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu also clarified on the issue noting that the legislator’s mother announced him dead after he was told by the doctors that her son is “brain dead.”
“CLARIFICATION: According to the doctors, Hon. Ssegirinya Muhammad is brain dead, most of his organs have shutdown but he is not yet declared dead. When the mother was told that Ssegirinya was brain dead with most of his organs shut down, she announced his death,” said Bobi Wine.
This clarification retracts the previous report on Ssegirinya’s death. Further details about his health shall be provided as they emerge.
