Police in Eastern Uganda is investigating circumstances surrounding the brutal murder of Dr. Wilfred Okilia, a senior medical doctor and lecturer at Soroti University.
Dr. Okilia, am Ear , Nose Treatment specialist was killed by unknown people and his body dumped on the roadside along Otuboi-Abalanga road, Ogolai village, Kaberpila parish, Ogwol sub-county, Kalaki district.
His body was discovered on Friday evening.
Damalie Nachuha, Kyoga East Regional Police Commander told reports that the deceased hands and legs were tied with ropes, bloodied face and a blood-stained bandage wrapped around his head.
Soroti University Public Relations Officer, Juma Hassan Nyene said Dr. Okilia’s death is shocking to the university
“The university has received the news of his death with shock but, we don’t have details of this incident,” he said.
Uganda Medical Association (UMA) where Dr. Okilia was a member mourned him and called for immediate police probe into his brutal murder.
“With heavy hearts, we mourn the brutal murder of Dr. Olila Wilfred, a selfless healer & lecturer at @SorotiUniversi1. This senseless violence against a doctor, who dedicated his life to saving others, is unacceptable! @PoliceUg we await justice,” UMA said.
Nachuha said the body was taken to Kaberamaido hospital mortuary for a postmortem. Police said they are treating this as a murder case and the police opened a case file at Kalaki CPS Vide CRB023/2025. May his soul rest in peace.
