The Uganda Cranes have learned of their opponents for the prestigious Total Energies Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament, set to take place from 21 December 2025 to 18 January 2026.
The official draw, conducted today at the Mohammed V National Theatre in Rabat, Morocco, has placed Uganda in Group C alongside Nigeria, Tunisia, and Tanzania.
Having emerged as runners-up in Group K during the qualification stage, Uganda, along with South Africa, secured a place in this highly anticipated tournament. Uganda will now join 23 other teams in competing at the 35th edition of AFCON.
This marks Uganda’s 8th appearance at the AFCON finals, with previous appearances in 1962, 1968, 1974, 1976, 1978, 2017, and 2019. The Cranes’ best performance came in 1978, when they reached the finals but lost 2-0 to Ghana [hosts] in Kumasi, Ghana.
The team will be aiming to put up a strong performance as they prepare to “hustle it out” against some of Africa’s football giants in the competition.
