In a fascinating encounter at the Emirates Stadium, Arsenal have blown Manchester City away with a brilliant 5-1 win.
The Gunners took a 1-0 lead into half-time after Captain Martin Odegaard got Arsenal off to a flying start but the game exploded into life in the second half after Earling Halaand equalised with a great header but just 38 seconds after the restart, Mikel Arteta’s Men were back in front after a deflected strike by Thomas Teye Party found the back of the net followed by Myles Lewis-Skelly scoring his first Premier League goal to make it 3-1 six minutes later.
“It was about time,” “It was good and afterwards, we didn’t stop, we kept on going. In the end, we got what we deserved and it was a good one.”Odeegard said after the game.
Kai Havertz, who missed a golden chance earlier in the game, added a fourth and substitute Ethan Nwaneri wrapped up the scoring with a beauty in stoppage time.
This win takes Arsenal to just within six points behind Liverpool who have played one less game than arsenal.
The win has taken the rivalry between the two teams to another level. In another dent to Erling Haaland’s ego, the Arsenal DJ is played Kendrick Lamar’s song HUMBLE. over the Emirates speakers immediately after the game. This win marks the first time in 22 years that Arsenal has scored four goals against Manchester City in a single game, and only the second time in Pep Guardiola’s career that his team has conceded five goals.
In other news, Manchester United were humiliated earlier in the day by Crystal Palace at Old Trafford, as Mateta’s two goals in either half were enough to leave Ruben Amorim’s team with more questions than answers.
