As the 2026 general elections draw closer, the Uganda People’s Congress (UPC) has officially kicked off its nationwide membership registration drive to strengthen its grassroots structures and mobilize support for the upcoming election.
The exercise was launched over the weekend in Northern Uganda and will progressively extend to the East, Central Uganda and Western regions.
The Party’s head of Media and communications, Mr. Muzeyi Faizo says the exercise is crucial for the party’s growth and organization, and urged members to take part and ensure their registration.
He said registration forms have already been dispatched to all party branches, stating that members will be issued an official party card after filling the form.

During this period, UPC will also be recruiting and registering new members. Faizo extended an invitation to the members of the public willing to join the party not to hesitate, assuring them of equal rights and opportunities.
“This registration drive marks a significant step in UPC’s preparations for the 2026 elections, as we seek to solidify its support base across the country,” he said.
Equally, the party has urged the citizens to updated their voter registration details ahead of the Electoral Commission deadline to ensure full participation in the upcoming 2026 general election.
The party has also appealed to the Electoral Commission to consider extending the deadline, emphasizing the importance of inclusive voter participation.
