Ntungamo District has rolled out a digital data collection system to enhance water service delivery and ensure efficient management of water sources.

As part of the initiative, 28 tablets have been distributed to lower local governments to facilitate real-time data collection on the status of water sources. This move is expected to improve planning, monitoring, and timely responses to water-related challenges.According to Ntungamo District Water Officer, Prosper Butubuura, health inspectors and community development officers will play a crucial role in mobilizing and sensitizing communities on water source protection and project maintenance. He emphasized that the digital system will provide reliable data, enabling authorities to make informed decisions and swiftly address emerging issues.

District Health Officer, Amon Muhumuza, highlighted the importance of accurate data in effective planning and service delivery. He urged district staff to embrace teamwork, noting that collaboration is key to the initiative’s success.

Bibiana Kakinoni, the Secretary for Health and Social Services, representing Local Council Five Chairperson Sam Muchunguzi, reaffirmed the district’s commitment to expanding access to clean water. She emphasized that improved water services would reduce waterborne diseases and enhance overall community well-being.Kakinoni also urged district staff to remain dedicated and work closely with local communities to ensure the program’s success. She assured that the district leadership would continue supporting health inspectors and community development officers in executing their duties effectively.

The adoption of digital data collection marks a significant step in Ntungamo’s efforts to strengthen water management, ensuring that every resident has access to safe and reliable water sources.
