Sadat Mukiibi, the candidate of the Forum for Democratic Change, has raised alarms over alleged vote rigging plot by the ruling National Resistance Movement ahead of the Thursday , March 13, Kawempe by-elections.
Speaking during election campaign in Mpererwe parish, Mukiibi alleged that NRM is preparing to rig votes on Thursday afternoon.
He emphasized for in-person voting urging voters to wake up early to cast ballots and protect their votes from the electoral fraudsters. Additionally , Mukiibi asked the Electoral Commission and other stakeholders to ensure free and fair elections.
He criticised the government for using security to intimidate opposition candidates, supporters by allegedly inciting violence in campaigns.
Mukiibi also expressed solidarity with veteran politician and FDC founding President,Dr Kizza Besigye, who is currently detained at Luzira on charges of treachery.
He criticised the government for keeping Besigye in incarceration and denying him court bail and access to specialized medical care yet it’s his constitutional rights.
Mukiibi will address his last political rally at Mbogo Mosque playground tomorrow, Monday 10th March, 2025.
