The hearing of the Henry Katanga murder case has been adjourned today, following the testimony of the 12th prosecution witness, Jaffar Kisitu, who confirmed the presence of gunshot residues detected in the test items submitted for forensic examination.

Kisitu, a 37-year-old superintendent of police in the department of forensics and deputy head of the Chemical Biological Radiological Nuclear Explosive Residue Analysis (CBRNE) unit, served as the lead examiner in analyzing the gunshot residue related to the murder of Henry Katanga. The case, which involves Katanga’s widow, Molly Katanga, their children, a domestic worker, and a nurse, dates back to November 3, 2023.

During today’s proceedings, presided over by Justice Rosette Comfort Kania, Kisitu presented his findings to the court. He confirmed that the test items contained components of gunshot residue and provided an analysis report along with a methodology document detailing the processes used to detect the components.

Following this development, the defense prosecution requested additional time to thoroughly examine the documents presented by the witness. The court granted their request, adjourning the hearing until April 14, 2025, when proceedings will resume.

The case continues to attract significant public interest as the trial progresses, with both prosecution and defense preparing to present further evidence and testimonies in the upcoming sessions.
