Police in Sheema District, Greater Bushenyi Region, have launched an investigation into the gruesome murder of a 67-year-old woman, believed to have been strangled to death in her own home.
The deceased, identified as Tindimubona Jane, a resident of Kahama Cell, Rushozi Ward in Kabwohe Division, was reportedly attacked during the night of June 15, 2025, by a yet-to-be-identified murderer.
Preliminary police reports reveal that a masked man, armed with a panga and a knife, was spotted by a family member inside the victim’s home during the fatal attack. He is believed to have strangled the elderly woman before escaping from the scene.
Police responded swiftly to the incident, securing the crime scene.
SP Tayebwa Apollo, the Acting Regional Police Spokesperson for Greater Bushenyi, said the aim behind this attack remains unclear, but pledged to pursue the case with urgency.
“Police is determined to have the culprit arrested. We request anyone with information regarding this incident to secretly share it with us,” he said.
Body was transferred to Kabwohe Health Centre IV for a postmortem examination.
Police have urged the public to stay calm and vigilant, assuring that updates will be provided as the investigation unfolds.
