Ugandan Physician, Dr. Vincent Kafuuzi Karuhanga and proprietor of Friends Polyclinic has urged novice politicians to undergo thorough medical check-ups for their physical and mental preparations ahead of the 2025/26 elections campaigns.

According to Dr. Karuhanga, early check-up help politicians to detect and manage potential health issues likely to cause intense pressure due to electoral campaigns.

“Nowadays, for some people, Parliament has turned into a business venture. Just the fear of losing their seat and not being re-elected can take a psychological toll, causing the body to release chemicals that trigger fear and the fight-or-flight response,” said Dr. Karuhanga.

He also called for proper nutrition, enough sleep and adequate exercise, stating that maintaining a good health lifestyle is significant for every Ugandan.
