Police in Kampala are investigating the sudden death of John Bosco Spire Kiggundu, a gynaecologist and proprietor of Henrob Hospital Zzana.
Dr, Kiggundu died under unclear circumstances after he reportedly went missing from his home. His lifeless body was discovered in one of the hotels in Kajjansi on Sunday June 22, according to reports.
Speaking to journalists on Monday, police spokesperson ACP Kituuma Rusoke confirmed that a formal inquiry was filed by the deceased family, stating that a postmortem would be carried out to ascertain the cause of the death meanwhile as investigations are underway.
Until his death, Dr. Kiggundu, a brother to renown government critique Assoc. Prof. Jimmy Spire Ssentongo, was serving as a consultant at his founded hospital Henrob, and the President of the Association of Laparoscopic Surgeons of Uganda (ALSU).
He is also a celebrated medic to lead campaigns on endometriosis awareness, fertility care and other issues on women health.
Condolences are still flowing in from prominent medics, politicians and reproductive health advocates across the country.
Dr. Kiggundu will be laid to rest at his ancestral home in Kalisizo, Kyotera district, on Wednesday 26th June, 2025, according a funeral program released by the family. May His Soul Rest in Peace!
