Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu, the leader of the National Unity Platform (NUP), has returned his nomination forms to the party, officially confirming his candidacy for the forthcoming presidential elections.
Kyagulanyi who was in company of his Wife Barbie Itungo Kyagulanyi, Son Shadrach Mbogo, plus some parents and wives of escalated NUP members and other party supporters was welcomed by the 9 members of the party Electoral Management Committee (EC) headed by its Chairperson, Harriet Chemutai.
Parrots Media has learned that only two people have so far shown interest in contesting for Presidency on NUP card. They are Kyagulanyi Ssentamu aka Bobi Wine, the newly elected party president and another lady. Unfortunately, she was knocked out of the race after her qualifications did not meet the required minimum standards.
Speaking to journalists shortly after being nominated, Bobi Wine vowed to take the win for the party in the upcoming elections. He expressed confidence that the NUP has the momentum and the support of the people to clinch the presidency.
“My fellow Ugandans, I am honored to return my nomination forms to the NUP party headquarters, and I am proud to be the party’s flag bearer in the forthcoming presidential elections,” Kyagulanyi said. “We have worked tirelessly to build a strong party, and we are confident that we have what it takes to win the elections.”
Kyagulanyi, however, emphasized that he cannot do it alone and called upon the party members to rally behind him. He urged supporters to unite and work together to ensure a resounding victory for the party.
“I need your support, your energy, and your commitment to make this happen,” Kyagulanyi said. “We must work together to mobilize our supporters, to campaign vigorously, and to protect our votes. Together, we can achieve greatness.”
As the campaign season heats up, Kyagulanyi and the NUP will face stiff competition from the NRM and other opposition parties. However, with his charisma, energy, and commitment to change, Kyagulanyi is poised to give the ruling party a run for its money.
