ENTEBBE
Three juveniles have died following a fire that engulfed their home on Friday night in Mpala Cell, Katabi Town Council, Entebbe municipality, Wakiso District, at around 1 a.m.
Kampala Metropolitan Police Deputy Public Relations Officer, ASP Luke Owoyesigyire, identified the victims as Ellah Namiru, 12; Amani Namulema, 5; and Tamale Namujju, 3. All were daughters of Lenon Kavuma and Julie Nalubwama.
Police allege that the mother had locked the children inside the house and left to attend night parties, locally known as Bidula, while the father was away in Jinja for work.
Owoyesigyire confirmed that the Fire and Rescue Services responded promptly and extinguished the blaze, but were unable to save the children.
“Two bodies were found outside the burnt house, while the third was located inside, burnt beyond recognition,” he said.
The scene was documented, witness statements were recorded, and the bodies were transported to Mulago City Mortuary for postmortem examinations.
The exact cause of the fire remains unknown, with investigations ongoing.
