The Korea Foundation for International Healthcare (KOFIH), in partnership with the Office of the Prime Minister (OPM), is set to commission a modern toilet facility at Bunyiro Primary School in Iganga District this Wednesday.

The facility is part of KOFIH’s Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) project aimed at strengthening local capacity, reducing waterborne diseases, and promoting health and dignity in communities across the Busoga sub-region.

Ahead of the commissioning, KOFIH and OPM will on Tuesday hold a training session for operators of the donated facilities. The meeting will also provide a platform for stakeholders to review WASH statistics, share best practices, and agree on sustainable management strategies.

Sang Hoon, Senior Advisor and Health Program Specialist at KOFIH, reaffirmed the foundation’s commitment to promoting access to safe water and sanitation services in Busoga.

“This partnership reflects our shared vision to deliver lasting impact. By linking expert dialogue with tangible infrastructure, we are ensuring that the children of Busoga have access to safe facilities today, but that these gains are protected for future generations,” Hoon said.

The Commissioning of the toilet facility addresses a critical gap in school sanitation infrastructure, improves access to safe, private and hygiene facilities, crucial for better health, reduced absenteeism and gender equity in schools.

The commissioning of the toilet facility bridges a critical gap in school sanitation, providing safe, private, and hygienic facilities that are essential for improved health, reduced absenteeism, and greater gender equity in education.

“The commissioning of this facility demonstrates government and partners working hand in hand. Sustainable management is key, and we are committed to to ensuring these resources are well maintained,” said Linda Luve, WASH Focal Person in OPM.
