KAMPALA
Ham Group of Companies has issued a stern warning to the public following an alarming rise in online scams involving fake social media accounts impersonating its Executive Director, Dr. Hamis Kiggundu.
In a statement seen by Parrots Media, the company said fraudsters have created over 100 accounts across Facebook, Instagram, X (formerly Twitter), and TikTok, using Dr. Kiggundu’s photos, videos, and public statements to deceive unsuspecting users.
“These imposters are misusing our executive director’s image to falsely claim they offer personal loans, gold trading, and financial assistance,” the statement read in part.
The company described the schemes as “well-orchestrated scams” aimed at defrauding victims of large sums of money, cautioning the public that Dr. Kiggundu does not offer any online loans or gold trading services.
“None of these accounts are affiliated with Ham Group of Companies or its executive director in any way,” the company emphasized.
HAM Group noted that the matter has been reported to relevant authorities and that all individuals running fraudulent accounts will be prosecuted in accordance with the law.
The company urged Ugandans to stay vigilant, avoid sending money to online solicitors, and report suspicious accounts to law enforcement or the firm’s official communication channels.
“Do not send money. Do not engage. Stay alert,” the notice warned.
The public has been urged to rely only on verified information posted on its official website, or through the official WhatsApp contact +256 702 141 589.
