In a powerful dedication ceremony for the 2025 examination candidates of St.Gracious, the Rt. Reverend Pons Ozelle, Bishop of Nebbi Diocese, urged students to place their trust in God alone, vehemently warning against the pursuit of success through witchcraft and witch doctors.

The event, held at St. Gracious Senior Secondary School main Campus, saw the gathering of 902 “O” and “A” level candidates, from both two Campus, their parents, and school officials for a prayer of blessing and commissioning of a new modern science laboratory.

Delivering his sermon from the Book of Proverbs, Bishop Ozelle stated that success derived from occult practices is unsustainable. “Success got from witchcraft or witch doctors doesn’t prosper,” he declared, emphasizing that “there is no power greater than God’s power.” He urged the candidates to be obedient to God and to rely on divine wisdom rather than their own for their upcoming exams.

The Bishop’s message also extended to the broader community. He challenged the people of Northern Uganda to prioritize education, asking, “Where shall Northern Uganda be if we don’t dig deep in Education?” He further called for peaceful politics, advising the community to “desist from voting for salt ,money and sugar but rather to vote competent and best leaders.”

The school’s principal, Mr. Ojok Martin Anyuru, assured parents and guests that the students are fully prepared to excel. “We have prepared our students in all aspects and they are ready to pass with flying colours,” he stated. He attributed the school’s consistent performance to a culture of “Humility and Discipline,” commending the students for their adherence to school routines.

Echoing the principal’s sentiments, the Chairperson of the Board of Governors, Professor Maros Eton, cautioned parents against interfering in their children’s academic choices. He urged them to “leave it to professional and teachers to guide learners on courses and combination to undertake.”

The school’s leadership was also commended for its vision. Bishop Ozelle specifically applauded Dr. Patrick Olet and his wife Eva for “sacrificing to offer the school to Lango and Northern Uganda.”

The ceremony culminated in the official commissioning of a modern science laboratory, a facility expected to bolster academic excellence and research at the institution. The event served as a robust send-off for the 902 candidates, grounding their academic journey in faith, discipline, and a commitment to quality education.
