Kyarampe, who arrived at the district EC offices around 10:00 a.m., was duly cleared to run on the NRM ticket before addressing a cheering crowd of supporters gathered in Mitooma Town.

In her post-nomination speech, Kyarampe expressed gratitude to the people of Mitooma for supporting her during the June NRM primaries, and appealed for continued support, even from opposition members in the 2026 general elections.

“I have been with you, and I am your friend,” Kyarampe said. “Vote for me in 2026 as your Woman MP in the 12th Parliament, for better service delivery and the development of our district.”

The soft-spoken yet eloquent Kyarampe also urged voters to back all NRM flag bearers at both parliamentary and local government levels, emphasizing the need for collective effort to drive unity and service delivery.

“I ask you to vote for all NRM flag bearers: President Museveni, Hon. Thomas Tayebwa, Hon. Arthur Kazoora, Hon. Kahinda Otafiire, Alex Karitundu, and myself, because we need to work together for the good of our party and our district,” she said.

Kyarampe defeated incumbent Hon. Juliet Agasha Bashiisha in the NRM primaries with 52.3% (39,078 votes), while Bashiisha polled 29.7%. Despite the loss, Bashiisha has opted to contest as an independent candidate, defying the party’s directive that losing aspirants back the flag bearers.

Across Mitooma, several other NRM incumbents who lost in the primaries have followed a similar path, save for District LCV Chairman Benon Boneeza Karyeija, who accepted the results.

Nationwide nominations for parliamentary candidates commenced today and will close later this month. The Electoral Commission has slated November 10, 2025, as the official start date for MP campaigns, while January 15, 2026, remains the polling date for both presidential and parliamentary elections.
